Bridal Hair Trends 2026: What Los Angeles Brides Are Actually Booking

Bridal hair trends 2026 Los Angeles. By Yanita Esqao — Bridal Hairstylist in Los Angeles & Orange County

After styling hundreds of brides across Los Angeles and Orange County, I can tell you one thing with certainty: 2026 is not the year of “trendy” hair. It’s the year of intentional hair — looks that feel polished, personal, and built to last through a full wedding day.

Here’s what I’m actually seeing in my chair this year, and what LA brides are requesting more than anything else.

1. Hollywood Waves — The Style That Never Leaves

If I had to name one style that defines my work, it’s Hollywood waves. And in 2026, they’re more requested than ever.

There’s a reason: Hollywood waves are the rare style that photographs beautifully from every angle, holds for 10+ hours, and works with virtually every neckline — backless gowns, off-the-shoulder, strapless, high neck. They feel glamorous without trying too hard.

What’s new this year is how brides are wearing them. Less structured, more fluid. The waves start lower, move through the length of the hair, and finish with soft face-framing pieces that feel effortless rather than set.

Best for: Long to medium length hair, brides who want to wear their hair down, glam and editorial wedding vibes.

2. Sleek Low Chignon — Clean, Modern, Timeless

The low bun has had a quiet resurgence — and not the soft, undone version. I’m talking about the sleek, polished chignonthat sits low at the nape of the neck with smooth lines and intentional structure.

This is the style for the bride who wants something that feels like it belongs on a runway. It’s minimal in the best way — it draws attention to the face, the neckline, the jewelry, and the dress rather than competing with them.

In Los Angeles, where weddings range from intimate backyard ceremonies to grand hotel ballrooms, this look adapts beautifully to both.

Best for: Brides with medium to thick hair, backless or low-back gowns, formal venues.

3. Textured Updo With Movement

Not every updo needs to be sleek. One of the most requested looks I create is the textured, sculptural updo — think twisted sections, visual interest, soft pieces framing the face, but with real structure and hold underneath.

This style is having a major moment because it bridges the gap between polished and romantic. It photographs with depth and dimension, looks beautiful in both candid and posed shots, and works exceptionally well outdoors — which is where so many LA weddings take place.

Best for: Brides who love updos but don’t want anything too stiff or formal, multicultural weddings, outdoor venues.

4. Half-Up With Soft Waves

The half-up style is a perennial favorite, and I completely understand why. You get the shape and elegance of an updo at the crown, while the length of your hair still flows beautifully.

In 2026, the version I’m creating most often combines a softly lifted crown — sometimes with a subtle twist or gather — with long, loose waves below. No tight curls. No stiff hold. Just soft, natural movement that feels like you, elevated.

This style is especially popular with brides who have worked hard on their hair length and don’t want to hide it.

Best for: Long hair, brides who want versatility, romantic and garden weddings.

5. Sleek Ponytail — The Modern Bridal Statement

The bridal ponytail has officially earned its place at the altar. What used to feel too casual is now a genuine style choice — and when done right, it is one of the most striking looks a bride can wear.

The version I create is sleek, high or low, wrapped at the base, with no flyaways and perfect tension throughout. It highlights the bone structure, elongates the neck, and photographs beautifully from behind — which matters when so many wedding photos focus on that moment of the first look, the veil, the dress.

Best for: Brides with strong facial features, modern and minimalist aesthetics, brides with long hair who want something unexpected.

What I’m Seeing Less Of in 2026

Just as important as what’s trending is what’s stepping back. Overly structured, heavily lacquered styles are fading. So are tight barrel curls that don’t move. Brides in Los Angeles are leaning toward styles that feel authentic — not like they spent three hours sitting still.

The shift is toward hair that moves, holds, and looks like you on your best day — not a version of yourself that requires constant adjusting.

A Note on LA Weddings Specifically

Los Angeles has a climate and a culture that shapes bridal hair choices in specific ways. The dry heat of summer in the Valley, the coastal humidity in Malibu, the golden afternoon light at outdoor venues — all of these factors matter when I’m choosing products, techniques, and finishes for each bride.

A style that works beautifully in an air-conditioned ballroom may need a different approach for an outdoor ceremony in Calabasas at noon in August. This is the kind of knowledge that only comes from working across Los Angeles consistently, season after season, venue after venue.
